Chapter four: Four stone, two lives.
.:Third person POV:.
After Hughes knocked on Mustang's door, we entered. Ed sat down , and Al stayed standing. Hughes took a seat after laying something down on Mustang's desk, right next to Edward.
"I called you brother's in for something, I found another source to Alchemy. Something beyond the philosopher stone." Colonel Mustang said, Ed and Al didn't take their gazes away.
"Hence, we want you both to research was I've been doing for the last four years." Hughes added in with a smile.
"Yes, but we want you to search and find." Mustang noted, holding up the folder that Hughes had laid down on his desk.
"So what is it you want us to find?" Al spoke up.
"The animal stone's, rather then the stones themselves. We only have information but this should give you what you're looking for. The myth of this is that if the stones were to ever be found they hold the greatest source of alchemy power around." Hughes stated pushing up his glasses.
"Stones, and animals?" Ed asked.
"Yes well it is more of the host to these spirits. These are notes from a doctor, who like Mr. Tucker exploited human and animal transmutation." Roy started to explain but stopped as he saw Edward's expression.
"Well I guess you boy's better be going then." Maes' said, handing the folder to Ed. As both Al and Ed leave, Maes looks to his friend Roy seeing how he couldn't finish.
"You still think she would have been turned into this?" Hughes asked, Roy looked away out the window seeing the Elric brothers walking out.
"I don't know to be honest, but he did say. I can only imagine what happened when we raided that night." He stated, Hughes nodded in agreement then walked out.
"Do you think it was wise to let them in on this discovery?" Hughes asked Roy.
"Yes, they might be the only ones to discover it all." Roy smiled, seeing them.
.:Al's POV:.
We decided to head to the library, to do a bit more research about this. Ed sat down looking over the notes, I noticed as I pulled down some books that his hands were in balled fist.
"Brother?" I called out, walking over to him. I saw tears in his eyes, droplets on the paper.
"How can such monsters exist." He said, I placed the books down. Pulling the folder over to read, scanning over I saw why. These notes contained information about two new born children being experimented for up to three years. Cross mixing two different DNA in one girl and two of the same like DNA in another little girl.
"Al do you- do you think if these girls live through this to?" Ed asked me, I didn't know what to say but I only nodded. I sat down next to brother and opened the first book, started to read. Brother continued to over look those notes, hours went by and the last book I was reading told a story of a great alchemy warrior of the past, and how this person was able to bend and use the spirits of four elements Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.
"Brother, look at this out of everything I've read this person was able to use the stones power with alchemy, I believe these two girls having been connected may be stronger as this book suggest." I said, he looked taking the book scanning over what I have already read his eyes grew and he wrote down a few note on paper like he'd been doing.
"Brother?" I called, he looked up.
"Al, as you've read this and the notes all combined with minor stories of the sacred stones. Came to the same conclusion but this doctor gave these two girls the direct blood to them and they were able to become one unlike the others who were only able to use their power with the stones only through alchemy." Ed explained and that is when I understood his word, we had figured out the most key part. Brother stood up, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
"We need to talk to the doctor, it is said they transfer to them were complete before his lab was raided. We need to find out how they were able to escape only at the age of three, and if they are still alive we need to find them." Ed stated, I stood up and we headed back to see Roy Mustang about meeting with that doctor.
.:Third person POV, with Brooke and Kayla:.
Finally it was after three in the afternoon both girls finished testing, all thanks to Brooke's mother Raven.
"How do you think you did?" Brooke asked Kayla.
"I don't know, what about you?" Kayla shrugged and asked Brooke. Raven walked back in to show the girl's their score and if any mistakes to help them but unfortunately for Raven neither; Brooke or Kayla had any form of mistakes on their testing.
"Alright girls, you've both pass." Raven told them, Kayla nodded as Brooke smiled.
"So not test next week then mother since we passed this one with on fail?" Brooke asked her mother.
"Yes no test your free day is that and you may choose what you would like to do on that day." Raven Replied. Kayla stood up putting on her beanie, Brooke looks to Kayla.
"Leaving early?" Brooke asked the younger girl.
"Yes, I told you I have a new sister and dog to the family. I promised mom I would watch over Nina, and Alexander." Kayla said.
"Oh, have a safe trip home then." Raven said to Kayla.
"I will." Came her reply as she walked down the stairs and put her shoes on, opening and closing the door as she leaves.
.rooke's POV:.
"Mother, what do you think?" I asked.
"On?" She replied.
"Of what Kayla said earlier, about the light that emerged from her body splitting Nina and Alexander?" I said, my mother paused in thought; thinking about it.
"I suppose it has to do with your and her abilities, I'll talk with your father on it and we'll see alright." She instructed, and left me in my room.
.:Kayla's POV:.
Just as I stuck in the key, the door opened revealing mother and Nina both smiling.
"How did you do?" Mom asked as I entered and sat down.
"We both passed, failing not one question." I replied taking a bite of an apple.
"Good. I told Nina here, that what she saw she cannot tell." She said, I looked down seeing Nina nodding.
"Onee-chan, I promise it's a secret." Nina said smiling cheerfully, I kneeled down patting her head.
"Come on." I said, she ran into my arms hugging me and I returned it back to her.
"I have to go meet with your father see you both later." Mother told us both, I nodded and closed my bedroom door. I played games with Nina until we both fell asleep.
The next morning rose right before our eyes, I got up. I headed to the bathroom, took a shower and got dressed. Nina was awaked, dressed and eating breakfast as I came out.
"Onee-chan." She smiled.
"Morning." I said, mom was already gone and dad he came out of the kitchen.
"Hey kiddo, do you mind taking Nina and Alexander with you?" Dad asked, I took a bit of my toast and eggs.
"Hm, yea." I replied wiping my mouth.
"Alright good, here is some money if you do want to get something. Mom will be home late tonight and I will be home after picking her up." Dad said leaving. After we had eaten I washed the dishes, then grabbed Nina's jacket and a leash for Alexander. We headed on out, for another study session with Brooke. I picked up Nina on my shoulders, she giggled as I knocked on the door.
"Oh dear, Kayla who might this little one and dog be?" Rick asked after answering the door.
"Nina and Alexander. Mom and dad adopted them." I replied. Soon after we walked in Brooke and Raven came from down stairs, Brook smiled but frowned as she saw me take off my beanie.
"Kayla?" Raven questioned.
"Hm, oh yeah. She is my little sister and knows about this so don't worry she wont tell." I said, Brooke's eye sighed in relief.
"I decided since your mother called and said they will be home a bit late, that you can stay the night." Raven suggested, Rick walked over nodding.
"Yes very good idea, I will see you all later after work." He said and left out the door.
"It is fine, I think it is cause my uncle is coming over but I don't think they will be you know." I stated, Brooke laughed.
"Oh that one you told me about?" Brooke asked.
"Yep." I replied, and we went upstairs to study. Nina sat down and played with some toys with Alexander. Raven walked in, we looked over.
"Alright you sure you girls will be fine?" She asked, we nodded.
"Ok, if anything just call me and I will be home quick, fast and in a hurry." She stated and closed the door. We went back to reading our books, when I felt Alexander nuzzle his nose into my leg.
"Hey Alex, what you need?" I said, looking over my shoulder seeing Nina asleep. I then looked to Brooke. "Can you watch Nina for a moment I going to take Alexander out side." Brooke nodded. I grabbed the leash and clipped it on to him, walked down stairs put slippers on and took him out side to do his doggy thing, he sniffed around and did his thing. I cleaned up with a baggy and took him back inside. Four hours had gone by and we were all hungry, we stopped studying and went to a pizza place. Ordered and went to a park, we sat down ate. The time started to get late as we walked to my home.
.:Maes' POV:.
I pulled up, got out of the car. Roy followed with me, but Ritza stayed inside the car. I saw my brother Vincent's car there so I knew they were home, it was after seven o'clock. I knocked on the door, and Lavinia answered the door.
"Kay-, oh Maes, Roy?" She started but stopped, stepping aside letting us to enter.
"What brings you here, you didn't come yesterday." Lavinia stated, I nodded.
"Yes, I was busy with something." I replied in an apology. She lead us to the living room where Vincent was reading a newspaper, we sat down.
"What an unexpected surprise." Vincent stated folding up the newspaper and putting it down on the table.
"Where is my adorable niece?" I asked, they smiled.
"She is out at her friends studying, we don't just have Kayla we adopted another child just days ago." He said, Lavinia walked back in; placed tea in front of all of us.
"Is there something you would like to discuss?" Vincent asked.
"No, nothing really we just dropped by for a visit." I say, they nodded.
.:Third person POV:.
As Kayla's parents talked with Roy and Maes, Kayla had Nina on her back walking to her place with Brooke holding onto Alexander. Kayla looks to Brooke, as they noticed the three cars in the drive way.
"Whose car is that?" Brooke asked.
"My uncle's." She replied, they both walked on past the car. Ritza sat there waiting drinking her coffee, as Kayla unlocked the door to the house, entering with Nina, Brooke, and Alexander. Ritza didn't notice the girls walk pass the car, she dropped her coffee and entered the house. Roy looks up noticing Ritza there, he watched her.
"What's wrong?" Roy asked Ritza, she looks around. Her eyes scanning over and over but she then looked to Roy.
"Nothing sir, I just thought I saw somebody I knew but it probably wasn't, never mind." Ritza replied.
.:Kayla's POV:.
I laid Nina down on the bed, I undressed her and put her pajama's on. Then I pulled the blanket up to her, Brooke unleashed Alexander. He jumped up on the foot of the bed and laid down, I walked to my closet and hung up Nina's jacket.
"Who were those people down stairs?" Brooke asked.
"I don't know the other guy, but the one with the glasses was my dad's brother; Maes." I said, we sat down on the floor.
.:Third person, with Kayla's parents:.
Lavinia stood up walking to the kitchen, she came back in; sitting down next to her husband.
"Why don't you all join us for dinner, Kayla I am sure would be happy to see you." Vincent stated, and Lavinia agreed.
"I would love to." Maes, and Roy say. Their gazes turns to Ritza.
"What do you say?" Maes asked her.
"No thank you, I would like to head home. I have some paper work to over look." She said, Maes stared to beg.
"I will be right back, I will tell the girls to get ready for dinner." Lavinia said, and stood up heading upstairs.
.:Kayla's POV:.
"Yea that is so true." I laughed, with Brooke. A knock on the door caught our attention. My mom entered in, then she closed the door.
"We need you girls to stay under wraps, but wash up and get Nina too. Dinner will be done in five." Mom said, we nodded.
"Do you think you should call your parents and let them know you're here?" I asked after my mom left, she stood up.
"I will right now." Brooke replied, I shook Nina awake.
"O-nee-chan." Nina said sleepily, Brooke hung up the phone.
"They're ok with it they knew I was with you anyways." She said smiling, I took Alexander's leash and clipped it to him.
"Can you take Nina with you to wash up while I take Alexander to the back yard?" I asked, she nodded. I walked down stairs and out the back door, I chained him and headed back inside to wash up.
"GIRLS DINNER IS READY!" Mother shouted, we all came down stairs and taking out seat.
"Kayla." Maes says seeing you there, Nina grabbed your hand.
.:Roy's POV:.
I saw the girls, and one was very familiar. I looked to Maes and Ritza clearly, they too notice. We made our plate, and ate in silence. Ritza kept looking to the one with the purple colored eyes.
"So which one is Kayla?" I asked Maes.
"This is Kayla, and this is the first time meeting the other two." He whispered.
"Kayla who are your guest?" Maes asked.
"This is Nina, she is my little sister and that is Brooke my best friend." Kayla replied.
"Nina?" Maes questioned.
"Yes, we adopted her days ago." Vincent clarified.
"I see, well welcome to the family Nina." Maes says. I watched knowing now that Shou Tucker's daughter was fine, I was sure we were all relieved to see but a question pondered my thoughts.
'Tucker turned his only daughter and the family dog into Chimera, yet she doesn't look like it. How?' I thought. I also noticed that Kayla and Brooke both work something over their head, even thought they are sitting down for dinner.
"Kayla, Brooke do you both enjoy alchemy?" I asked suddenly, they both looked up with a questioning expression. Kayla looks to Brooke with the expression of whether she should or shouldn't respond.
"Why do you ask?" Kayla asked.
"Well with your parents permission, I would like you to meet two boys, they're brothers but are very good with alchemy." Maes speaks up, Kayla and Brooke's gaze meets over to Maes then back at mine.
"Yes, and they are around your age I assume." I said, then Kayla looks to her parents, they nod.
"We will see, but we will meet them another day." Brooke suddenly spoke.
"Yes." Kayla says in agreement.
"How about tomorrow?" Ritza says suddenly. Everyone looks to her, I gazed to her and saw how intensely she peered to Brooke.
"Kayla?" Brooke calls.
"Fine." Sighed Kayla.
